My husband, Jim, and I have been married for over 30 years. We have two sons, Chris and David. We have two dogs which keep the house rocking. My great grandfather, Floyd J. Skidmore, served as a Battle Creek City Commissioner in the 1960’s. I remember visiting City Hall with him and seeing government in action.
I was born in Battle Creek and attended Fremont Elementary School. My parents, siblings and I moved away for a few years. I attended college and law school in Ohio. My husband, sons and I moved back to Battle Creek in 1991 and love living in this marvelous community.
I practiced law for 14 years, specializing in business and administrative law for health care organizations. I maintain my license to practice and am a member of the State Bar of Michigan. I served as the Executive Director for the Economic Development Forum of Calhoun County for 9 years. Currently, I am focusing my time on a wide variety of community activities and serving the citizens of Battle Creek as a City Commissioner.

Common sense, integrity, honesty, hard work – that pretty much sums up how I approach most things I take on - whether it be elected office or community volunteering. I have never been afraid to ask the tough questions and dig deeper to find answers and solutions. I am proud of what I have accomplished but much more remains to be done.
